Have been taking on and off, mostly for a nights sleep. It has had a beneficial effect over all, when taken perhaps as little as once a week. Now, going through difficult times, I'm up to 10-20 mg to get to sleep, as being awake worrying is more harmful. So, I'm a bit of a zombie, not good, but seems better than agitated depression (if there is such a condition)". "Now 77 years old, I have Depression with mild anxiety.
"I have suffered with anxiety and severe panic attacks for many years. It is a GODSEND. Initially anyway. I have noticed over the years I've had to increase the dose I take (which I've never taken daily). 5mg of diazepam (Valium) never did much for me. But 7.5mg used to have a perfect effect. These days I need 15mg for that.

I was prescribed valium for neck issues but never took them,I took 1/2 of a 5mg tab today for a severe anxiety attack ! Will I have to go through any withdraw symptoms from taking 2.5 mg ? I know it sounds like a dumb question but I feel like a zombie right now,I just wonder how long it will last and do I expect.
Hi there was just wondering how you have been? I hope all is going well for you and I have thought of you and even though not overly religious i'vve said a few prayes for you too. God bless you and Take care. if You can let me know how your going, Nicola.
If you were pysically addicted you would probably be feeling horrible on the day you dont take one. Please don't be scared, you sound very strong minded and if your only taking 5mg every 2 days I really dont beleive you are at risk of addiction considering you have made the dissision to stop.
Valium is a godsend!!!! I have taken it exactly 5mg for 23 years for anxiety. The only stop was 5 years in psychoanalysis when the doctor claimed "the. I take 2.5 mg per day. For anyone suffering from moderate to severe anxiety, or panic attacks, ask your doctor to let you try simply 5mg of Valium taken in the evening.
I take 5 mg as needed for anxiety, and have found the drug very helpful for this purpose. I have found it difficult, however, to resist taking it more than recommended by my doctor because it makes me feel so much more relaxed, so if you have an addictive personality this is probably not a good choice for you. It is also easy to stop taking (no withdrawal) but it stays in your system (and is detectable in urine) for a good 3 weeks. I have used Klonipim and Xanax before and actually prefer the Valium because it lasts longer and doesn't make me tired at the usual 5mg dose.
Valium is a derivative of benzodiazepine, and is used for things such as insomnia, anxiety, muscle spasms and some types of epilepsy. The standard dosage for children is 1 to 2.5mg, 3 or 4 times a day, with gradual increases as needed and tolerated. Diazepam should not be administered to children.
The drug is rarely used as a primary drug for the long-term treatment of epilepsy, due to the fact that tolerance to the drug’s anticonvulsant effects usually develops within 6 to 12 months of treatment, effectively rendering it useless for this purpose.
In some instances, diazepam is used by stimulant abusers to ‘come down’ and induce sleep and also by LSD users (or those taking other hallucinogens) to help ease their trip without unpleasant after-effects. Diazepam is not used recreationally as much as alprazolam or flunitrazepam.
